STEVE BOWDEN                      

Steve Bowden moved to the South West from South Shields in 1975 and studied Graphic Design and Illustration at Torquay College. Although his career path has had a few changes throughout this time the one aspect that has remained is his love of painting.

Hiss subject and style have also moved through changed and he is equally happy with intricate black and white drawings as he is with watercolours. Steve chosen media for the last Ten Years or so has been acrylics.

‘I have developed a naïve style which is more illustration than fine art allowing me to show the flavour of a location without being constrained by scale or perspective’. Many of the paintings feature boats and harbour scenes often from an imaginary view point some 50 feet in the air.

Meet the Boys – A new set of characters I would like to introduce you all to are ‘The Small Town Boys’. This bunch of friends are growing up somewhere in the middle of England in the 1950’s and 1960’s. We will meet them as they grow up together and discover ‘Rock and Roll’, cars snooker halls and of course Teddy Girls.
